Recognised Graduate subclass 476 Skilled (Provisional) (Class VF) visa
This visa was introduced in September 2007. It is a 18 month temporary visa for graduates of recognised universities around the world. Applicants have to be under 30 and must hae graduated within the last two years. They o not require to have work experience to apply for this visa. When in Australia they can work and/or studdy without any restriction. While holding this visa, if they become eligible for a permanent visa by either scoring 120 points which is required for the independent visa or 100 points for a sponsored visa then they may apply for a permanent visa.
To becfome eligible for a permanent visa the holder of a 476 visa can earn additional points in the following way:
1. Score 7 or more in each component in the IELTS to get 25 points for English
2. Get one year's work experience in Australia to claim 10 points for Australian work experience.
3. Get one year's work experience in Australia in a MODL occupation or a closely related occupation to claim 10 points for Australian work experience and 15 MODL points.
4. Get one year's work experience in Australia in a MODL occupation or a closely related occupation and have a job offer in Australia to claim 10 points for Australian work experience plus 20 points.
5. Pass the NAATI test in a community language like Bengali, Hindi, Tamil etc. to claim 5 points for Designated Language.
The list of recognised universities and the discipline of study will be updated regularly . As on 1st August 2008 only engineers who are graduates of the currently published list .of universities can apply for this visa. We provide below the list of universities in the Middle East, South Asia, South East Asia and Far East which are recognised for this visa. Currently only engineer graduates from these universities are eligible to apply for this visa.
